Bless You My Friend

Badorb.com was an internet only record label which was set up and operated by Alex “LX” Paterson of the Orb during 2001/2002. Samples of forthcoming releases were put up on the site for one month and at the end of that month CDs, LPs and t-shirts were pressed to the exact numbers ordered. The release was then immediately deleted, so all Badorb records issued only in very limited editions.

This “Best Of” Double CD was the last thing issued by the label. This is the UK version which differs slightly from the USA version. Out of focus, noodly techno is the order of the day, not so much “chill out” as “bland out”. There are a couple of interesting things and a few horrible monstrosities, but generally, its all a bit “meh”. Having said that, as an Orbsessive, there’s plenty for me to enjoy here. I’m just warning you, don’t expect fireworks.

Part of CD2 is supposed to be an enhanced section but I’ve never actually managed to get it working.

More details have been announced. The BadOrb gig will feature three rooms – live, dub and ambient – while the band and DJ list is still the same as in the first news. The show will be on Saturday, 28th September from 9pm to 6am. Tickets go for ukp 17.50 adv.BadOrb.com will be in 270 Mare Street, Hackney, London E8 1HE.
