KLF Reconnaissance/Task Force!
Hello again!
With LOOKING and it’s surprise B-Side approaching, we’re creating a LOOKING 4 THE KLF
RECONNAISSANCE TEAM/TASK FORCE!
HOW WE/IT WILL ROLL:
1. WE’LL POST YOU LOOKING 4 THE KLF STICKERS TO DECORATE/PLASTER YOUR CITY/NEIGHBORHOOD WITH.
-Specify how many you’d like to distribute; take digital/photographic evidence of the stickers around your city (put them in bizzare, unexpected places!) and we’ll publish our favorite entries here! All images will be collected and published in three LOOKING 4 THE KLF books- one for KLF Communications/The Library of Mu as well as personal copies we’ll send to Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty.
-Stickers will be shipped Friday, January 23rd; all photographic evidence must be in by March 23rd, 2009!
2. ARM YOURSELF & LOVED ONES WITH LOOKING 4 THE KLF GUERRILLA GRAPHICS & BANNERS!
-We’ll supply you with images and code!
-Have fun designing/remixing your own versions!
-If you make your own, send it here and we’ll post our favorites for distribution!
-For every 23 email forwards (bcc us) or banner/graphics posts on friend’s online pages (submit links via email), we’ll rotate you intoTop Friends!
-We’ll post a list of the sites, pages and/or individuals that participated here as well as in the LOOKING 4 THE KLF books!
-Banners and graphics will be available January 23rd!
3. WE’LL PROVIDE YOU WITH VOCAL SAMPLES FOR POP INC VS. KLF– OR TIMELORDS OR JAMS– MASH UPS &/OR SOUND COLLAGES!
-We’ll award [Time] Travellers Cheques (actual $$!), free B-side downloads & month long Top Friends slots for our Top 3 favorites!
-We’ll publish a list of all participants (and links to them!) here and in the book!
-Vocals will be available January 23rd; all entries must be in by 3 a.m. on March 23rd!

In the meantime, here’s a clue about the LOOKING 4 THE KLF B-side.
The number 42, as listed by Wikipedia:
In Pop Culture
42 in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Many occurrences of the number 42 in pop culture can be attributed as an homage to Douglas Adams’ book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, in which the number 42 is The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. According to the fifth Hitchhiker volume, Mostly Harmless, 42 is the location of Stavromula Beta. Thus, 42 may be the world’s longest written riddle, since the riddle of the question to the answer was raised in the first volume, and not answered until the final page of the fifth, and then passes unnoticed by the story’s ever-bumbling characters.
42 in Other Literature
Since Adams’ book, people have looked for and found 42 in older literature, such as Shakespeare’s plays and Carroll’s Alice, which has 42 illustrations. In Chapter XII, the king explains ‘the oldest rule in the book’: ‘Rule Forty-two. All persons more than a mile high to leave the court’. Carroll also uses the number in a line in The Hunting of the Snark : ‘He had forty-two boxes, all carefully packed…’
In The Property of a Lady from Octopussy (the earlier editions of the three-part short story book included this story), James Bond (a character created by Ian Fleming) attended an auction to identify a top KGB spy. This spy was to raise the value of a Fabergé egg so that his female double agent working in MI5 (The British Secret Service) would get more money (as a way to monetarily pay her back for many years of service) from the sale of her (previously sent from Russia) Fabergé egg. The lot number of the Fabergé egg was 42.

YOU GUYS ARE THE SH*T!
We’re so excited to blast off with this and MAYBE… just MAYBE… Bill and Jimmy will emerge again, just in time to save the world with their harmoniously brilliant cuts which– by creating fantastic musical vibrations that will spread through the universe in the same way that the Butterfly beating it’s wings in South America will cause a hurricane in Mali– may repeal the comet (or whatever it is) that’s supposed to hit and propagate the ye olde “end times” described by the Mayans in 2012.
If you haven’t yet sent your email in to the sticker mailing list, make sure you get it to us no later than early/mid Feb! Packages will go out as soon as we get the stickers back near the end of the month!
