Malicious Damage does sound rather severe for a label promoting pleasant sounds. However their roster of artists packs a punch worthy of their appellation. Malicious are a completely independent outfit who “just like to skulk in the shadows and do things our way… but don’t be surprised if we jump out occasionally and snatch at some of that limelight…” High Frequency Bandwidth are a shining light upon the new showcase compilation from Malicious Damage. With prophesies of “sonic anarchy” and “earth-level raunch” and an obsession for the initials HFB, their music is soaked in the avant-electro influences of their past and each member brings their own lucid musical history to the table including work from The KLF to Bowie. Highly Fruitful Band.

Initially set up to release the music of Killing Joke, Malicious Damage is now nearing thirty years as a truly independent record label with a fine pedigree of releases. ‘The Clock Machine Turns You On: Vol 2’ sees thirty-two tracks from the label’s back catalogue “sewn together” by The Orb’s Dr Alex Paterson and wrapped up in the usual luxurious packaging. Paterson also appears here as both The Orb and as part of Transit Kings and High Frequency Bandwidth, alongside material from Killing Joke, Analogue Mindfield, Canola Tenderfoot, Bob Meyer, Belka And Stralka and Caned And Able. The label’s ethos is suitably reflected in its roster, each creating unique, uncompromising music. 8/10
Classic Dub song by the Orb, and this video appears to be of a live skit in their early days.

Just trying to relax and use any means available. I think Retail Therapy may be next.
