A Crush On Money

2006-07-23 | Jimmy Cauty

Jimmy eventually succeded in convincing the garage to buy his piece of art back for £4000 as offered. It's a bit difficult to explain what and how it happened in the end, so you better check out the CNPD Homepage and read the full story starting around the last third of the page.

Congratulations!

Oil And Crushed Metal In The News

2006-07-13 | Jimmy Cauty

Spencer a.k.a. 5/11 kindly sent me a copy of last weeks Argus featuring pictures and press coverage of Jimmy's latest 'artwork', one half of the remains of what once was a Mitsubishi Delica.

Most of the article consists of what had already been published on the CNPD website, but it also includes some new information as well as some comments from Jimmy himself.

Furthermore, the CNPD homepage has been upated with more information, pictures and stamps. The artwork itself will be on display in Brighton until 14th July unless the garage owner agrees to buy it back from Jimmy.

The pictures have been scanned and scaled down to find a compromise between filesize and resolution. Just click the thumbnail previews to download the fullsize images. If you think they should be larger (in a reasonable way of course) let us know - the original picture size is somewhere around 7.000 x 8.800 pixels...

Both scans are just a small part of a growing collection of around 125 original articles, misc items and posters, some of which you hopefully have never seen before - and there are still many more waiting to get scanned.

We just don't know yet where to store around 12 GB of material - not counting thumbnails and smaller versions...

Oil And Crushed Metal On Tarmac

2006-07-01 | Jimmy Cauty

Ever bought a faulty car? I mean, not just a car that makes some trouble every now and then, but a real lemon? Apparently Jimmy did last year when he purchased a Mitsubishi Delica that made more trouble than miles from County Cars of Portslade by Sea.

Various repairs and a pending court case later, Jimmy decided to crush the car, cut it in half and now offers its remains to the same garage as a work of art for £4000 - the same price he originally purchased it for.

The work called "Untitled - Oil And Crushed Metal On Tarmac" will be on public display at the junction of Station Road and North Street, Portslade, Brighton from Mon 3rd July. For complete coverage and pictures head over to CNPD Online and read the full story.

DE:BUG interviews Jimmy - pictures!

2006-05-24 | Jimmy Cauty

With the Aquarium Gallery opening its Berlin outlet in April, there has been an unbelievably high press coverage throughout most of Germany's biggest music magazines and even daily papers, including Groove (and their 100th issue - congratulations!), TAZ and pop culture mag Spex.

The most extensive article, however, was published in this month's DE:BUG, featuring a three-page interview and two outstanding photographies of Jimmy in Berlin.

Most of the questions focus on Jimmy's current works, his paintings and the CNPD of course, talking about the motives behind his work, the trouble he had with the Royal Mail about his infamous drawing of the Queen wearing a gas mask and why he decided to focus on stamps in the first place.

The interview also broaches his political intentions and Britain's pro-war propaganda before diving right into the past as Jimmy talks about various KLF topics as well, ranging from their early JAMS activities to the late days of the K Foundation and their money burning.

We don't want to spoil the whole article here, so if there is a news agent in your area selling german music magazines as well (if you are outside Germany of course), be sure to pick up a copy of DE:BUG issue #102 to enojy both the complete interview and two great pictures, including one full-page photography, taken by renowned german photographer Alex Trebus.

Just one thing - the long-promised book is still in the making and will be released at some point, and Jimmy himself is looking forward to it, too.

Thanks to Alex Trebus and all the friendly people at DE:BUG

Gone Fishing

Aquarium Gallery's Christmas Shop has been expanded with more really cool items. After adding the Stamps Of Mass Destruction Vol. 1 book last week in a limited edition of 50 (£95), they now also sell the CNPD SMD Definitive Ltd Edition Box Set, gathering all Class Definitive CNPD Stamps (1st to 7th) in one box. This one is limited to 10 boxes, and there are only three left anymore. For £495 it isn't your ordinary Christmas gift, though.

Additionally, there is a very unique item for all those who like Jimmy's early drawings - the original pencil and ink artwork of the Lord Of The Rings poster, released through Athena in 1976. No price has been set for this one, but if you are interested in owning this very special poster, you can get in touch with Aquarium via the Christmas shopping page.
